A Bequest to Further Good Work
Nancy and David live in Orlando, Florida. However, in the 1970s David lived in Covington, Virginia because his father worked at Boys Home. Over the years, he had seen many boys helped by the good work of the organization and they both wanted to create a legacy to provide future resources to continue Boys Home's mission.
The work of Boys Home was important to us. We regularly made cash gifts but
wanted to do more. We received the charity's newsletter and noted that we
could make a gift from our estate and join The Navigators, Boys Home's
planned giving club. We saw a picture of smiling people and knew
immediately we were just like them!
Nancy: We met with our lawyer to revise our wills, and since we don't have children, we each included a provision for a gift of our entire estate to Boys Home. This was easy to arrange and permits us to still use our assets during our lives if we need them.
David: When the survivor of the two of us dies, Boys Home is going to receive a tremendous gift. We thought that since we couldn't take it with us, what better use could all of this money go to than to Boys Home. We couldn't think of any better use and we really feel good about doing this!
